I AM NOT A FAN OF SATYAM RAJU. I am a FAN of 108.

          In India, till recently, there was not a common Emergency Number, to which citizens could dial for Medical Emergencies. 108 has addressed this need. It is known that Satyam Raju, has played a major role in the establishment of 108.

The 108 Emergency Response Services is a Free Emergency Service for any emergency be it medical, police and fire. 108 is a toll free number and is accessible from landlines, mobile and local telephone booth without any prefix or suffix.

EMRI has partnered with hospitals and nursing homes to provide free hospitalization. EMRI will recruit and train required human resources, including pilots (drivers) and medically trained persons who will provide pre-hospital care to the victim.

However, it is important to note that 108-EMRI is independent of Satyam Group, managed by top-notch health care professionals. Healthcare professionals who have, sacrificed lucrative careers elsewhere.

In the wake, of the Satyam Fiasco, there have been numerous voices, questioning the viability of 108, and whether 108, is part of the Satyam Scam.

Sane voices should prevail, and view independently the commendable work of 108iens.  Anyone, who has dialed 108, will vouch for the humane response by 108iens.

It will be a sad day, if 108 is allowed to be shut down, by vested interests.
