What If A School Visit Became
Someone's First Airport Journey?
Yes, this is possible
A Citizen Observation Inspired by the Upcoming
Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport
The Starting Point of Citizen Observation 17 of CO777
Dear Government of Andhra Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh Airports
Development Corporation, Bhogapuram Airport Project Team, GMR Group and the future airport operators,
At the outset, appreciation for the vision behind the recently inagurated Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport at Bhogapuram.
The airport will strengthen regional connectivity, support
economic development and become a gateway for millions of future travellers.
While reading about the project, another thought came to mind.
Perhaps one of its most memorable journeys may
begin with a visitor's pass, long before a boarding pass.
Yes, a visitor’s pass.
Act I | The Airport Next Door
Within roughly 75 kilometres of the airport live lakhs
of citizens.
Schools.
Colleges.
Teachers.
Parents.
Children.
Many students may not board a flight for years.
Some may never have entered an international airport.
Yet this airport will become part of their region.
Perhaps even part of their imagination.
Act II | The First Airport Visit
Imagine a school from Vizianagaram.
Another from Bheemunipatnam.
A government school from Srikakulam.
Perhaps one day, children from villages around Bhogapuram
itself.
The buses arrive one after another.
No luggage.
No boarding passes.
Only visitor's passes.
Only curiosity.
For many students, this is their very first visit to an
international airport.
Everything feels new.
The architecture.
The terminal.
Aircraft waiting in the distance.
Ground vehicles moving with quiet precision.
The information displays.
The announcements.
Someone whispers,
"This is much bigger than I imagined."
Another asks,
"Do people really fly to other countries from
here?"
A teacher smiles.
"Yes... and today our journey begins
here."
Questions begin appearing faster than answers.
And that is exactly how learning begins.
Act III | Curiosity Takes Off
Just like an aircraft takes off.
One student points towards the airfield.
"Who tells the aircraft when to take
off?"
Another notices the baggage vehicles.
"How does every suitcase reach the correct
aircraft?"
Someone watches the airfield lights.
"Why are there so many lights?"
Another quietly watches an aircraft push back.
"How many people work here every day?"
The teacher doesn't answer immediately.
Instead, she smiles.
"What do you think?"
Now the students begin answering each other.
"Pilots."
"Engineers."
"Firefighters."
"Ground staff."
"Security."
"Cleaning teams."
Learning is no longer coming from a classroom.
It is coming from observation.
A student from Tagarapuvalasa begins sketching the
terminal.
Another from Anandapuram photographs the aircraft.
A child from Savaravilli simply watches an aircraft
disappear into the sky.
Yet everyone has begun a journey.
Not towards another city.
Towards new possibilities.
Act IV | One Citizen Suggestion
Could ASR Bhogapuram Airport consider introducing a structured
Educational Visit Programme, supported by a Dedicated Educational
Visit Coordination Desk, to help schools and colleges organise guided
educational visits?
That is the only suggestion.
Citizen Observation 777 does not attempt to prescribe visitor
routes, educational content, schedules, security procedures or operational
arrangements.
Those decisions belong entirely to the airport operators,
security agencies, educators and the concerned domain experts.
The thought is much simpler.
An airport connects people to destinations.
An educational visit can connect young minds to
possibilities.
The First Line on the Whiteboard
Citizen Observation 777 draws only the first line
on the whiteboard.

How that line is completed belongs entirely to the airport's
planners, educators, security agencies and operational experts.
Act V | The Journey Home
The buses begin their return journey.
No one has boarded an aircraft.
Yet everyone carries something home.

A memory.
A dream.
That evening, conversations begin across homes in Vizianagaram,
Bheemunipatnam, Srikakulam, Tagarapuvalasa, Anandapuram
and villages around Bhogapuram.
"Today we visited an international
airport."
Parents listen.
Grandparents smile.
Younger brothers and sisters become curious.
The airport has already connected with its community.
Not through a flight.
Through learning.
If educational visits became a small part of the airport's
outreach, they could inspire thousands of young minds every year—long before
many of them ever receive their first boarding pass.
Citizen Observation
An international airport connects places.
Perhaps it can also connect young people with curiosity.
Not every airport journey begins with a boarding pass.
Some begin with a visitor's pass.
Some begin with a question.
Some begin with observation.
Some begin with possibilities.

often begins with a simple observation.
