RBIQ 2014 Curtains down – RBIQ 2015 Curtains Up

            The third edition of the Annual Reserve Bank of India Quiz came to an end with the finals held on November 14,2014 in Mumbai.

            10,000 students directly participated in the RBI Quiz 2014 with an equal number participating indirectly.

            The 10,000 students were spread over 5,000 schools-62 different Pan-India locations.

            Students of Classes 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th are eligible to participate in the RBI Quizzes.

Shri  Giri 'Pickbrain' Balasubramaniam was the quizmaster and Doordarshan was the media partner for 2014.

As compared to the previous edition, there has been an marked increase in the participating students and institutions.

The level of questions that the students had to tackle were of a very high order, with RBI Governor Dr.Raghuram Rajan saying  that  he was thoroughly impressed about how much they knew. "We have been at the Reserve Bank for a while now. But I must say we did not know many of the answers," Dr. Rajan confessed.

RBIQ Spreading drops of knowledge


            Reserve Bank of India Quiz 2014 (RBIQ 2014) has started to spread the joy of knowledge across Indian Schools.

            The honor of hosting RBIQ 2014 has gone to Mr.Gautam Bose of Greycells.  The official Television Broadcaster is DD National.

            The curtain raiser was broadcast on June 8, 2014.

            As the teams cross the various levels i.e written preliminary tests, interactive location finals the level of questions faced by the participants intensifies.


            May the Best and the most innovative team win RBIQ 2014.

          RBIQ (Reserve Bank of India Quiz) 2013, has started rolling out last month across the country.

          The Quiz kicked off in 2012, by Reserve Bank of India, is now a permanent fixture on India’s quizzing scene.

          As the Zonal rounds have commenced, the action is heating up across Indian schools
          This year i.e 2013, the preliminary rounds are taking place in 44 cities. To encourage participation from a large number of schools, local RBI offices have written letters to School Principals’, informing them of the RBIQ 2013, and the benefits of participation.

          The format this year is similar to the 2012 format.  

RQIB 2013 format:

The Quiz will have four  stages.

  • The Pre-Quarter Final and Quarter Final will be held on the same day

  • For deciding on the eight winning teams from each of the four zones, i.e. North, East, West and South, for the Zonal Finals, a Zonal Semi-Final will be held in each of these zones.

  • On completion of this, the Zonal Finals for each zone will be held followed by the National Final wherein two winning teams from each of these Zonal Finals will then take part. Travel, Stay, etc. arrangements, if any, for the teams participating in Zonal Semi-finals, Zonal Finals as also the National Final will be made by RBI. These two stages of RBIQ are likely to be telecast on a reputed TV channel.
Each student taking part in RBIQ will be given a Certificate of Participation. Students participating in the Zonal Finals and the National Final will win attractive prizes.

Students studying in Stds. IX, X, XI & XII are eligible to participate in RBIQ.

Each school has been requested to send only one team comprising 2 students from any of these classes. In case the school chooses to send more than one team, that in the event of more than one team emerging successful in the preliminary round, only the top-scoring team representing the school will be chosen to participate the Quarter Final round.

RBIQ 2013 is being conducted by reputed quizmaster Gautam Bose and his associates. Lucknow, Shillong and Port Blair are few of the cities which are included in the 44 list.

          The RBIQ 2012 edition was hosted by Shri Barry O’Brien and his frequent team mate and co-host Shri Ryan Shaw

First Edition of RBIQ - School from Thiruvanathapuram wins National Finals of RBIQ



                As promised by Reserve Bank of India, the first edition of RBIQ was conducted across India.
                The finals of RBIQ were held in National Library, Kolkata on 05/12/2012.
                It was a grand finale with the honors being taken by Chinmaya Vidyalaya HSS, Thiruvananthapuram. The runners-up were Maharishi Vidyamandir Public School of Guwahati were the runners up.
RBIQ is one more effort of the Reserve Bank of India towards spreading awareness about financial matters, especially among children so that they themselves becoming financially responsible citizens in the future, they can inspire their elders in the habit of savings and banking and other matters of finance.
                While giving away the prizes to the winners, Dr. D. Subbarao, Governor, Reserve Bank of India said that he was "humbled at the amazing range of information and knowledge that the participants displayed in answering the questions related to banking, finance and India". The Governor also said that he was delighted to see the excitement and the enthusiasm that RBIQ generated all over the country - from Jaipur to Visakhapatnam, Imphal to Vadodara, Kochi to Dehra Dun and Jammu to Patna.
The finale was attended by Deputy Governors and Executive Directors of the Reserve Bank as well as Chief Executives of a few public sector banks.
                As you are aware Reserve Bank has launched RBIQ this year for students in Classes 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th.
The event was open to schools all over India. The RBIQ was held over three months in 32 centres across the country. Of the more than 3000 schools invited, over 1600 schools participated. After zonal finals conducted in state capitals, the semi finals and finals were held over three days in Kolkata. Shri Barry O'Brien, noted quizmaster conducted RBIQ.
