Starting this week, I intend to devote a post-every week to a current topic. The week’s current topic is CHESS. Viswanathan Anand-the current Chess World Champion, is on a visit to India.
Chess has great potential, in India, and the ‘rapid chess version’, is a pucca TV Game. Strangely, no Indian TV Channel, has woken up to this goldmine. Maybe, some foreigner should praise the virtues to the chess to Indian TV Channels.
A brief extract from http://www.hindu.com/2009/01/18/stories/2009011856431500.htm, might enable the readers to get a true perspective, of the potential of chess in our country.

NEW DELHI: Paucity of major chess tournaments in the country has slowed down India’s march towards becoming a superpower in the cerebral sport. After Koneru Humpy pointed out the deficiency last week, World champion Viswanathan Anand has called for “top events” in the country.
Anand, in the Capital to attend the prize-giving function of NIIT Mind Champion Academy’s all-India chess competition, told mediapersons on Saturday, “It will be nice if we start having some top events. Category events (strong round-robin competitions) or rapid chess and those sort of things.”
