34 days over, 12 days left for Prayagraj Maha Kumbh 2025. Lost & Found: 20,000 Stories

The Kumbh Mela is a celebration of unity, faith, and renewal

AI-Powered Lost and Found Centres Reunite 20,000 Families at Maha Kumbh 2025

As the 34th day of the Prayagraj Maha Kumbh 2025 unfolds, the grand spectacle continues with another 12 days to go. This year, the world’s largest religious gathering has witnessed an extraordinary feat—over 20,000 missing individuals have been reunited with their families, thanks to cutting-edge AI-powered lost-and-found centres.

Digital Innovation in Maha Kumbh 2025

The Uttar Pradesh government has taken a revolutionary step in crowd management by deploying digital lost-and-found centres. These centres, equipped with AI-driven facial recognition technology, machine learning, and multilingual support, have been instrumental in reuniting thousands of lost pilgrims with their families.

A Mother’s Joy: How Maha Kumbh 2025 Reunited 20,000 Lost Loved Ones

During key bathing events, the impact of these centres has been significant:

  • Mauni Amavasya: 8,725 devotees reunited
  • Makar Sankranti: 598 devotees traced and united
  • Basant Panchami Amrit Snan: 813 pilgrims found and reconnected

Beyond these key events, over 10,000 additional individuals have been reunited, with women forming a significant portion of those helped. The Uttar Pradesh Police, along with administrative officials and volunteer organizations, have played a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of these centres.

The Role of AI in Crowd Management

Losing a family member in the massive crowds of Kumbh Mela has been a long-standing concern. However, with AI-powered facial recognition tools, authorities can now capture images of missing individuals and scan the crowd for matches. Visitors are also encouraged to use the official Kumbh app, which provides real-time tracking to prevent separation.

The effectiveness of these centres has been evident from the very first day of the Maha Kumbh Mela, where 250 individuals were reported missing within a few hours. The lost-and-found system, inspired by modern technology, has transformed the experience for countless families.

Government and NGO Collaboration

The initiative, launched by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on December 7, 2024, is part of a broader effort to ensure a hassle-free pilgrimage experience. Ten digital lost-and-found centres have been strategically set up at key locations, including Prayagraj Junction Railway Station. These centres offer not just reunification services but also waiting areas, medical rooms, and essential facilities to support those in distress.

Organizations like UNICEF and several NGOs have actively contributed to this mission, reinforcing the collaborative spirit of the Maha Kumbh.

No More ‘Kumbh Ke Mele Mein Bichadna’

For decades, getting lost at Kumbh Mela has been a recurring theme in Bollywood films, with stories of separation and reunion forming the emotional backbone of many classics. From Amar Akbar Anthony (1977) to Tujhe Meri Kasam (2003), the idea of losing loved ones in the sea of devotees has been ingrained in popular culture.

However, with AI-driven lost-and-found centres, the narrative is changing. The fear of losing loved ones is gradually being replaced with hope and assurance, making Maha Kumbh 2025 a landmark event in the seamless management of large crowds.

As the countdown to the culmination of this grand event continues, the integration of technology into tradition has set a new benchmark for future Kumbh Melas, ensuring that devotees can focus on their spiritual journey without the fear of separation.

World SafeePay Day aims to celebrate the joy of safe electronic payments in all financial transactions, representing an abstract celebration that highlights the significance of secure and efficient digital financial interactions. As the world increasingly relies on electronic payment systems, having a designated day for SafeePay emphasizes the importance of secure and reliable digital financial transactions.

IndiGo CEO Finds "Peace in Chaos" at Maha Kumbh 2025: A Call for Heartiness in Airfares

The Kumbh Mela is a celebration of unity, faith, and renewal

✈️ IndiGo at Maha Kumbh 2025: A Journey Beyond Business, A Gesture of Heart ❤️

Prayagraj’s Maha Kumbh Mela 2025 has once again mesmerized the world with its grandeur, spirituality, and sheer scale. Among the millions of devotees who took the sacred dip at the Triveni Sangam was IndiGo CEO Pieter Elbers, who beautifully encapsulated his experience in a heartfelt note.

Taking to LinkedIn, Mr. Elbers described the Maha Kumbh as an event that defies words, sentences, or pictures in capturing its true essence. “Once in 144 years… the largest gathering of mankind on planet Earth! 450 million visitors in just 45 days,” he wrote, highlighting the immense significance of the festival. His early morning dip at 5 AM, amid chants, prayers, and devotion, was an unforgettable moment—one of peace in the midst of chaos, a sentiment that resonated deeply with millions worldwide.

As Maha Kumbh enters Day 18, the energy in Prayagraj continues to build. With millions of devotees participating in various rituals, the event has showcased an unparalleled fusion of faith, unity, and tradition.

The second significant bathing date, Basant Panchami, is just around the corner, drawing even greater crowds. The resilience of both the pilgrims and the infrastructure supporting them, including air travel, has been truly remarkable.

This once-in-a-lifetime spiritual gathering has drawn an overwhelming number of visitors, placing enormous pressure on transport and infrastructure, including air travel. Recognizing the surge in demand, IndiGo has commendably expanded its operations to meet the needs of pilgrims.

The airline has doubled its capacity to and from Prayagraj, offering over 1,65,000 seats and increasing flights from 490 to 900. Additionally, IndiGo has extended connectivity to ten key locations across India, including Ahmedabad, Kolkata, and Jaipur, beyond its existing network.

While IndiGo’s operational enhancements are praiseworthy, it is also essential to ensure that airfares remain accessible for the millions of devotees traveling to this historic event. The Indian government has urged airlines to maintain reasonable ticket prices, acknowledging concerns over soaring fares. Encouragingly, IndiGo has taken steps to stabilize pricing, reportedly reducing fares for Prayagraj flights by 30-50%.

Given that Maha Kumbh is a sacred event occurring only once in 144 years, it presents an unparalleled opportunity for airlines to showcase generosity and heartiness.

IndiGo, being a leader in Indian aviation, has already demonstrated commitment by scaling operations and supporting logistics at Prayagraj Airport.

A further goodwill gesture—ensuring rationalized airfares throughout the event—would not only reinforce IndiGo’s customer-first approach but also solidify its place as a truly people-centric airline.

As millions embark on this divine journey seeking spiritual fulfillment, fair and affordable air travel can become a meaningful part of their experience. IndiGo has the chance to make history—not just as an airline facilitating travel, but as a brand that understood and upheld the spirit of Maha Kumbh 2025.

Let this Maha Kumbh be remembered not just for its spiritual significance, but also for the inclusivity and warmth extended by those who make the pilgrimage possible.

IndiGo, show some heart—after all, some experiences are beyond business; they are about humanity.

No VIP Protocol for Major Festivals at Prayagraj Maha Kumbh 2025

The Kumbh Mela is a celebration of unity, faith, and renewal

Day 17 evening at Prayagraj Maha Kumbh 2025: Ensuring Safe and Inclusive Celebrations

The Prayagraj Maha Kumbh 2025, one of the largest spiritual gatherings in the world, has drawn millions of devotees seeking blessings and participating in sacred rituals.

In light of recent events, authorities have announced that no VIP protocol will be followed during the upcoming major festivals and bathing events, ensuring equal access for all attendees.

Prioritizing Safety and Crowd Management

The decision follows a tragic stampede during the auspicious Mauni Amavasya on January 29, which saw an unprecedented influx of pilgrims at the Triveni Sangam. Officials confirmed that a massive crowd had gathered to participate in the ritual bath, leading to a loss of life and injuries.

To enhance crowd management and prevent further incidents, authorities have emphasized that no special privileges will be extended to VIPs during high-traffic days. This measure is intended to streamline the movement of devotees, allowing for a more organized and safer environment.

Day 17 Evening: A Moment of Reflection and Resilience

As the Maha Kumbh progresses, the evening of Day 17 was marked by a solemn yet unified spirit among the pilgrims. Following the administrative announcements, devotees gathered in large numbers along the riverbanks, engaging in collective prayers and meditation. The chants of sacred hymns filled the air, reinforcing the shared faith and resilience of those present. Despite the absence of VIP protocols, the atmosphere remained orderly, with authorities ensuring a smooth flow of movement.

In an effort to maintain harmony and safety, the administration worked tirelessly to manage the influx of devotees, setting an example for the upcoming major bathing days. The evening also witnessed discussions among spiritual leaders on the significance of an egalitarian approach to worship, emphasizing that faith knows no hierarchy.

Equal Access for Devotees

The Maha Kumbh is a deeply spiritual event, drawing people from diverse backgrounds who come together in devotion. By eliminating VIP protocols, organizers aim to reinforce the spirit of inclusivity, ensuring that every pilgrim, regardless of status, has an equal opportunity to partake in the rituals. This move is also expected to reduce disruptions and improve the overall experience for devotees.

Day 17 of Prayagraj Maha Kumbh 2025: Strengthening Safety Measures for Upcoming Festivals

Judicial Inquiry and Administrative Measures

In response to the January 29 incident, a three-member judicial committee has been formed to investigate the cause of the stampede and recommend measures for improved crowd control. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has also postponed his travel plans to oversee the situation personally, reaffirming the administration's commitment to the safety of all attendees.

The Significance of Mauni Amavasya and Upcoming Bathing Festivals

Mauni Amavasya is regarded as one of the most auspicious days for taking a holy dip at the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati. This year, the event held even greater spiritual importance due to the rare celestial alignment known as 'Triveni Yog,' occurring after 144 years.

Looking ahead, key bathing days such as Vasant Panchami (February 3) and Maha Shivratri (February 26) are expected to attract large crowds. Authorities have urged devotees to remain patient and follow safety protocols to ensure a smooth experience.

A Collective Effort for a Safer Kumbh

With millions expected to visit in the coming weeks, ensuring a safe and fulfilling experience for devotees remains the top priority. By discouraging VIP visits on peak days, authorities hope to mitigate congestion and enhance crowd management efforts.

Pilgrims are encouraged to cooperate with security personnel, adhere to designated pathways, and stay informed about guidelines issued by the administration. The Maha Kumbh is a testament to faith and unity, and with collective responsibility, it can be observed in a secure and harmonious manner.

Will Union Bank of India Unveil Electronic Donation Boxes (e-Hundi) at Prayagraj Kumbh Mela 2025?

The Kumbh Mela is a celebration of unity, faith, and renewal

Day 9 Evening at Prayagraj Maha Kumbh 2025: Union Bank's e-Hundi Vision Takes Center Stage

The ongoing Prayagraj Kumbh Mela 2025 offers a unique opportunity for Union Bank of India to extend its technological prowess and community engagement by introducing electronic donation boxes, or e-Hundis. This possibility stems from an inspiring tweet shared by Union Bank of India on May 20, 2024, from their official Twitter (X) handle:

#UnionBankOfIndia MD & CEO Ms. A. Manimekhalai inaugurated the sixth Regional Office in Kerala at Ayyanthole Chungam Junction in Thrissur District and dedicated an electronic donation box (e-Hundi) and a water purifier to the devotees at Guruvayur Temple.

This remarkable initiative at Guruvayur Temple could pave the way for Union Bank of India to implement similar e-Hundis during the Prayagraj Kumbh Mela.

Union Bank of India has already opened two physical branches in Sector 2 and Sector 19, so this is a wonderful opportunity to unveil a minimum of five e-Hundis.

Day 9 Evening at Prayagraj Maha Kumbh 2025: Union Bank’s e-Hundi Ushers in Safe ePayments

Four key motivators underline why this initiative could be transformative for both the bank and the community:

Motivator 1: Soft Diplomacy Among Devotees

The Kumbh Mela draws millions of devotees, making it an ideal platform for Union Bank of India to establish a deeper connection with the public. By offering seamless and secure digital donation options, the bank can strengthen its reputation as a forward-thinking, service-oriented institution.

Motivator 2: Showcasing the Magic of Safe ePayments

In an event as massive as the Kumbh Mela, showcasing advanced digital payment solutions can highlight the convenience and security of modern banking.

The e-Hundis can serve as a live demonstration of how technology simplifies traditional practices while maintaining their sanctity.

Motivator 3: Introducing Fixed Amount Static QR Codes

Union Bank could introduce a pioneering Safe ePayment product: Fixed Amount Static QR Codes.

A donation amount of ₹10 per transaction (not a rupee more, not a rupee less) ensures simplicity and accessibility, encouraging participation from a broader audience.

Motivator 4: Boosting UPI Volumes in India

By integrating e-Hundis with UPI payment systems, Union Bank of India could significantly contribute to increasing UPI transaction volumes. This aligns with the broader national agenda of promoting digital financial inclusion.

Day 9 Evening at Prayagraj Maha Kumbh 2025: Union Bank's e-Hundi Bridges the Spiritual and Digital

Day 9 Evening of Prayagraj Maha Kumbh 2025

As the sun sets on Day 9 of the Prayagraj Maha Kumbh 2025, the sprawling festival ground lights up with devotion and celebration. Introducing e-Hundis during such a momentous time would amplify the spiritual ambiance while showcasing the seamless integration of technology with age-old traditions. Devotees from across the country could experience the convenience of safe ePayments in a way that complements their spiritual journey.

Keeping Fingers Crossed

While the decision rests with Union Bank of India’s leadership, the potential for this initiative to create a lasting impact is undeniable.

The Prayagraj Kumbh Mela is a convergence of tradition and modernity, making it the perfect venue for the e-Hundi’s debut.

About Union Bank of India

Union Bank of India, headquartered in Mumbai, is one of India’s leading public sector banks. Established on November 11, 1919, the bank has grown to become a robust financial institution with over 8,500 domestic branches, 9,000+ ATMs, and a dedicated workforce of 74,000+ employees.

On April 1, 2020, Union Bank of India amalgamated Andhra Bank and Corporation Bank, expanding its legacy to over 300 years of combined service. The bank also operates two overseas branches and several joint ventures, reflecting its global aspirations.

Union Bank of India’s commitment to technological innovation and financial inclusion has earned it numerous accolades. It was the first large public sector bank in India to achieve a 100% core banking solution. The bank continues to prioritize its customers through innovative products and extensive reach across all states and union territories in India.

The Prayagraj Kumbh Mela is not just a spiritual gathering; it is a celebration of shared humanity and progress. By introducing e-Hundis, Union Bank of India has the chance to elevate this experience, seamlessly blending tradition with technology. We await this decision with optimism and no expectations, trusting in the bank’s vision for innovation and inclusivity.
